Saturday November 21—Holiday Basket Preparation at 10:00 am
Gather with a dedicated group of big-hearted folks who will assemble and wrap small gift baskets of holiday treats for our sick and shut-in parishioners. These baskets are deeply appreciated by those who receive them. It keeps them connected to the parish, and reminds them that they are not forgotten. If you can give an hour to help keep this tradition alive, please contact AmmaLeslie.

This "thank you" breakfast is prepared by the members of the Stewardship Committee with gratitude to everyone who faithfully supports the mission and ministry of St. Bartholomew's with financial offerings and gifts of time and talent. Stay late after the early service or come early to the late service and share a delicious breakfast with your church family. Please remember to bring your pledge card for 2015, and put it in the special offering basket during worship.
Saturday December 13—Cambridge Community Senior Dinner at 1:00pm
This intergenerational holiday celebration is an annual event our seniors really enjoy! Amelia Taylor will be cooking up a feast as only she can, and the younger generation serves the meal to seniors from our parish and the surrounding neighborhood. Festive Christmas decorations, fellowship and laughter, and a home-cooked meal make it an afternoon to remember. At 2pm the Cambridge Community Chorus will be giving a special performance of traditional Christmas carols with everyone in the room singing along. Get your Christmas celebrating started early at the Senior Dinner!
Wednesday December 24—Christmas Carol Open Sing at 6:30 pm
O come and enjoy the hymns and carols that have been a part of Christmas for generations. Bring your voice and sing along, or just sit and listen while others make a joyful noise around you. Attend the carol sing by itself, or let it be a beautiful time of praise and preparation for the communion service that follows.
Wednesday December 24—O Holy Night Communion service at 7:00 pm
This is the "Christ Mass" – our yearly celebration of the birth of Jesus. The Word of God became flesh and was born as a baby, to live and die as one of us. Eternal and almighty God took on human form and came to us as Emmanuel: "God with us." We call this event the "incarnation" and it is a central aspect of the Episcopal/Anglican faith. The resurrection miracle of Easter is the source of our Christian Hope, but there would be no Easter without the incarnation, no death and resurrection without the birth! Join us in celebration of the Christ Mass!
Sunday February 8—The 106th Annual Parish Meeting at 1:00 pm
One of the most commendable features of the Episcopal Church is the prominent role of lay people in parish governing. All financial transactions are transparent. Every parishioner has input in decision-making by electing vestry representatives and approving annual budgets. Hear a vision statement from the Rector and reports from parish ministry areas that celebrate our growth and vitality. All active members of St. Bartholomew's Church are welcome to attend.
Sunday February 15—Absalom Jones Day Festival Eucharist at 4:00pm
Join St. Bartholomew's and the Massachusetts Chapter of the Union of Black Episcopalians in celebrating the legacy of Absalom Jones, the first black priest in the Episcopal Church. The Rt. Rev. Alan McIntosh Gates, 16th Bishop of the Diocese of Massachusetts, will be preaching and presiding, and an informal dinner reception will follow. The feast day celebration also features the presentation of the Frederick Douglass Isaacs Awards for Outstanding Lay Leadership. To nominate a person of color from your parish to receive the Frederick Douglass Isaacs Award, contact The Rev. Leslie K. Sterling, President of the Mass. Chapter of UBE, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 617 249 0537 ext #1. Save the date and be sure to join us for this festive and historic occasion!
